Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
These air fryer chicken tenders come out juicy inside with a crisp, seasoned crust and only a light coating of cooking spray. A short pickle-juice soak seasons the chicken before breading and adds a subtle tang.
They are a practical weeknight dinner and also work well sliced over salads, tucked into wraps, or served with fries and dipping sauce.
Why You’ll Love Them
- No deep-frying mess
- Juicy chicken with a crisp coating
- Family-friendly and freezer-friendly
- Easy to make in batches
The Pickle-Juice Marinade
A 30-minute soak in pickle juice seasons the chicken quickly. Drain the tenders before dipping them into the milk-and-egg mixture so the breading stays balanced rather than overly wet.
How to Air Fry Chicken Tenders
Mix flour with the seasonings and baking powder. Dip the marinated chicken into the egg mixture, then coat it in the seasoned flour. Arrange the tenders in one layer in the air fryer basket and spray the surface so there are no dry flour patches.
Start at 360°F, flip after the first stage of cooking, then finish at 400°F until crisp and the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F.
Storage and Reheating
Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container and reheat in the air fryer so the coating crisps again. Cooked tenders can also be frozen, thawed overnight, and reheated at about 380°F until hot and crunchy.
