Crispy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
These air fryer sweet potato fries are a fast side dish with crisp edges, tender centers, and a lightly sweet-spicy seasoning. Cornstarch helps create a drier surface, while a small amount of oil encourages browning without deep frying.
Why You’ll Love Them
- Ready in about 15 minutes
- Simple pantry seasonings
- Less oil than deep-fried fries
- Easy to customize
How to Cut Sweet Potato Fries
Cut the sweet potato into evenly sized sticks, about 1/4 inch thick. Consistent sizing matters more than perfect shape because fries of the same thickness finish cooking at about the same time.
How to Make Them Crispy
Combine salt, garlic powder, cayenne, cinnamon, and cornstarch first, then toss the fries with that dry mixture before adding oil. Air fry at 400°F, shaking or tossing once or twice so multiple sides have a chance to brown.
Serving and Storage
Serve the fries immediately with ketchup, ranch, or a creamy dipping sauce. Leftovers can be chilled and reheated in the air fryer until crisp again. They can also be frozen after cooking and reheated straight from the freezer.
