Creamy Jalapeño Poppers
Jalapeño poppers are an easy party appetizer made with fresh jalapeños, creamy cheese filling, and a golden baked finish. This Wasfat Ummi version keeps the peppers front and center with a rich cream cheese and cheddar filling, smoky paprika, and optional turkey bacon for extra savory flavor.
They are simple enough for game day but polished enough for a holiday appetizer tray. If you are building a snack spread, pair them with our chicken sausage balls or browse more appetizers and snacks.
Why This Jalapeño Popper Recipe Works
- Creamy filling balances the heat of the peppers
- Fresh cheddar gives better flavor than pre-shredded cheese
- Easy to assemble ahead of time
- Oven and air-fryer options
Ingredient Notes
Choose medium to large jalapeños that are firm and smooth so they are easy to halve and fill. Removing the white ribs and seeds reduces the heat. Full-fat cream cheese gives the smoothest filling, while sharp cheddar adds a stronger cheese flavor. Turkey bacon is optional and can be left off for a simple vegetarian version.
How to Make Jalapeño Poppers
Slice the peppers lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and membranes. Mix the softened cream cheese with cheddar and seasonings, then spoon the filling into each pepper half. Arrange on a rack over a baking sheet and bake until the peppers soften and the filling is hot and lightly golden.
Make Ahead and Storage
Assemble the poppers up to one day ahead and refrigerate them covered. Leftovers can be reheated in a 350°F oven or air fryer until hot. For freezing, freeze the assembled unbaked poppers on a tray, then transfer to a freezer container.
Serving Ideas
Serve with ranch, sour cream, or a cooling yogurt dip. They also work well alongside air fryer chicken wings.
